So thrilled to let WHILE YOU WERE GONE loose in the world today. I really love this little book. It's light (kind of, in a way that I can be light. No one is murdered, so it's light-ER). It's fun. It's a little happy at the end, but also a little surprising and might make you wonder, what comes next? At least this is my ultimate hope. I wonder what comes next, too!
But, what's a novella?
A novella is just a shorter book. It's a little slice of a story, generally with less complicated sub-plots than a novel. It's shorter (WYWG is 150 pages). Sometimes scenes are shortened or there are less chapters. And most novellas are based of novel characters, like little spin-offs (but not always).
A Companion Novella to the NYT Bestseller Thought I Knew You
Despite Karen Caughee’s intense focus on her music, her life is drifting out of its lane. Her mother is falling head-first into alcoholism and her brother refuses to acknowledge it. Her love life and music career have both stalled out. When she meets a charismatic but aloof stranger in a bar, she is uncharacteristically smitten. He seems to "get her" in a way no one else does, and she begins to second guess everything she's ever held dear.
After a tragic accident, Karen finds her support system in the most unlikeliest of people. A shattering revelation brings Karen’s life to a crossroads, and she must face the full truth about who she loves and who she has become.
